Viz Media has announced a new shojo home video line. First to hit the shelves? Full Moon. Based on the manga by Arina Tanemura, Full Moon is the story of 12 year old Mitsuki, a brave young girl with dreams of becoming a pop singer to fulfill a promise she made to her first love many years ago. But Mitsuki has a malignant tumor in her throat and her voice could be the price of her cure.
Enter a couple of mystical grim reapers and Mitsuki is transformed into a 16 year old girl - old enough to go audition. But the clock is still ticking...
Full Moon debuted in Japan in 2002 with 52 episodes and is expected to gain matching popularity in the states. Volume 1, "I Want to Sing" will hit the DVD shelves on June 27th and retail for around $25. But for those of you that can't wait, the first episode will be included in a special preview disk with the June 2006 issue of Shojo Beat magazine, on sale May 16th nationwide.
