The Bottom Line

Okay, I'm well beyond my teen years but I like School Rumble. Its fun and even a little nostalgic as you watch the conflicts play out between all those stereotypical teenage personalities. This is a keeper if you like sitting down to an easy watch and a must-have for those teenage romance and comedy fans in the house.

Pros

  • Full of sub-plots to keep your attention.
  • Lighthearted and funny.
  • Great shojo manga for teens.

Cons

  • Predictable cliques, but you expect that with a school-based story.

Description

  • Based on the original manga by Jin Kobayashi.
  • Rated: 13 and up.
  • Genres: Shojo, Shonen, Comedy, Romance

Guide Review - School Rumble - Volume 1

In volume 1, we're introduced to Tenma Tsukamoto, our lead female character who's everything a bouncy, bubbly teenage girl should be. She has a crush on Oji Karasuma and hopes to get closer to him in the upcoming school year. Unfortunately, Oji announces he'll be moving away in a few days, leaving Tenma devastated and begins scrambling to win his heart before he goes. Maybe that's why she doesn't notice Kenji Harima, our resident tough guy who's just as anxious to get Tenma to notice him. And the scheming begins.
