Question: Dear Shojo Girl: What was your favorite anime show as a kid?
My first anime was Ronin Warriors. What show got you started as a kid?

Answer: Dear Casey,
Actually, we were still carving pictures on stone when I was a kid so I never got to watch.
Just kidding... but I am going to go back a little further than Ronin Warriors. My very first exposure to anime was Speed Racer during the '70s. Of course, back then I didn't know I was watching "anime" -- I didn't even know what anime was at the time. All I knew was that the "cartoon" was really cool and everything moved really fast.
When I got older, I was co-owner of a collectible toy store and we got a deal to import in some Japanese stuff. One of the things we got was some Dragonball Z video tapes -- no sub or dub, just straight Japanese audio, so we couldn't understand any of it, but I was hooked!
That was probably the first time I really became aware of the anime genre and started searching for anything and everything anime that I could get my hands on!
