Question: Dear Shojo Girl: Am I Too Old To Watch Anime?
Me and my friends like to watch anime while we're hanging out on the weekends. My girlfriend says I'm too old to still be watching cartoons and I need to grow up. Am I really too old? I'm 19.

Answer: Dear Eddie,
Well, considering that I'm twice your age and I'm still an avid fan, I'd say no, you're not too old.
The fact is, watching anime is just like any other kind of entertainment - if you enjoy it, then you enjoy it and you should never think you're too old to have some fun!
Anime fans can be as young as 4 or 5 and as old as the hills so don't think for a minute that just because you're no longer "a kid" means that you can't enjoy your favorite anime shows. Just about everyone has a favorite TV show and it doesn't matter if its Code Geass, Boston Legal or Sponge Bob Square Pants - you should be able to watch what you want without getting grief from your girlfriend.
Having said that, maybe she's just a little irked that you're spending more time with your friends hosting anime marathons than you are with her. Or perhaps, she's not familiar with anime and hasn't had an opportunity to really enjoy the shows.
I suggest you talk to her about it and see if there's a way you can bring her into the loop. If not, maybe she should have a "night out with the girls" while you and your buddies are tuning into anime.
