It's Friday night and you don't have a date. Not to worry... there's plenty of anime to keep you entertained. What to watch? Here's my five favorite picks for anime shows that will help you forget all about going out on the town.
1. Vexille
Why Vexille?
Relationships are complicated -- just ask Vexille and Leon, or worse, look at Maria and Kisaragi. And let's be honest... who needs that kind of a headache? Besides, it's much easier to fight world domination if you're not tied down, so keep those options open... you're just saving your time and energy for something much more important.

2. Black Lagoon
Black Lagoon is rowdy, rough and, okay, let's just say it... brutal. If this series doesn't make you want to become a loner and hang your shingle as a bounty hunter, I don't know what will.
3. Naruto
Naruto is an excellent choice for a dateless date night for two reasons: 1) there's enough volumes in this DVD series to keep you busy for hours and 2) Naruto himself feels isolated and alone, but you don't see him crying in a bowl of popcorn, now do you? No, no, no... instead he focuses his energies on improving his skills and mastering the martial arts and come on, be honest... isn't there a little ninja just screaming to get out in all of us?
4. Cowboy Bebop
While Spike might be looking for his latest bounty, there's also the underlying broken romance between him and Julia that lingers in the background. Yet despite Spike's best efforts, Julia is always "just ahead." And while he does have his moments of reflection, he doesn't let it stop him from getting the job done. And on that note, don't you have a job to do? Surely there's a closet to be cleaned or some cabinets to be re-organized or perhaps an escaped conman that needs to be brought to justice. Spike knows his destiny -- now's a good time to contemplate yours.
And if nothing else, Cowboy Bebop is just darn cool.. how can you not get into a good mood when you're watching this one?

5. School Rumble
Tenma has a crush on Oji. In fact, she's so infatuated with him that she fails to notice that Kenji has a crush on her. Moral of the story? Perhaps if you weren't so busy pining away for you-know-who, you might notice that someone else is equally enchanted with you, ergo... no more dateless Friday nights.
Plus, this is a funny, funny show and as we all know... laughter is the best medicine!
