First appearing in a Japanese issue of Shonen Jump magazine, Naruto is the story of Uzumaki Naruto, a boy who carries the spirit of a fox demon inside him. As a newborn, Naruto was chosen to be the vessel for the Kyubi no Yoko (Nine-Tails Demon Fox), a powerful demon that attacked his village (Hidden Leaf). Unable to defeat the demon, the Fourth Hokage sealed the Kyubi inside Naruto.
This makes Naruto a very unpopular character in his village and he soon joins the ninja academy in the hopes of proving his worth to himself and his neighbors.
Naruto is published by Viz Media through the Americanized Shonen Jump and the anime was picked up by Cartoon Network's Toonami in September of 2005.
