Forget guns... after Saiga meets the mysterious Kagura during a ritual, he discovers he has the powers to make things explode just by snapping their picture. Once a war photographer, now Kagura is working alone to unravel the mystery of the Roppongi Club and master his amazing new abilities.

This is Speed Grapher, a new anime from FUNimation Entertainment. Based on the original Japanese production from GONZO and TAP, Speed Grapher is a dark and dramatic anime, full of mystery, suspense and supernatural warfare. In Volume 1, we meet Saiga, a typical photography skilled in snapping war photos. But the Bubble War is now over and the gap between the rich and poor has grown, leaving Tokyo as a cold and calculating city. Saiga finds employment with Hibara Ginza and infiltrates the Roppongi Club, a secret gang in the red district. But he is caught before he can report his findings and is brought before a girl called Kagura. During Kagura's ritual, Saiga's powers are awakened and he discovers he can make things explode just by capturing their image on film. Now he must go it alone as he pursues the Roppongi Club armed only with his camera.

Rated TV-MA, Speed Grapher contains extreme graphic violence as well as references to mature subject matter. But if you're of age, this psychological thriller is definitely one to add to your private anime collection.

Speed Grapher Vol 1 is due to hit your DVD shelves on July 4, 2006. You can place your pre-order at the FUNimation website.
