This is Togari, one of the many new manga releases from VIZ Media and what a manga it is!

Created by Yoshinori Natsume, Togari is an 8-volume supernatural thriller that dives right into the action and never lets up. The story centers around Tobei, a samurai warrior who was executed and damned to Hell for 300 years for his ruthless acts.

But then, Tobei gets a second chance, a chance that could redeem his soul - he must slay 108 nasty spirits (called the "Toga") in only 108 days. To accomplish this task, Tobei is given a magical wooden sword called the Togari. This sword uses the negative energy and evil intent of its user as its power and luckily, Tobei has plenty of negative energy to go around.

But Tobei is returned to the modern world, not the ancient feudal Japan he remembers and he struggles to fit in and learn its ways. He's also held by two rules that must not be broken: he cannot commit any new sins and he can't harm a human, no matter what. If he does, he could suffer his original fate all over again.

Togari is a gripping and powerful manga, full of demons and dastardly deeds. Pick this manga up and you won't want to put it down.
