Fushigi Yugi: Genbu Kaiden is the manga prequel to the Fushigi Yugi series and tells the story of Takiko and everything leading up to the classic anime. In Volume 1, Takiko is accidentally sucked into her father's translation of The Universe of the Four Gods" and becomes the first Priestess of Genbu. She meets Rimudo, one of the seven Celestial Warriors she needs to find. As Takiko quickly discovers, Rimudo has some pretty special powers - he can summon the wind and transform into a woman. Currently on the run, Rimudo is being chased by Chamuka. It's not long before Takiko begins to suspect Chamuka is a Celestial Warrior as well.
