In this alternate-reality fantasy world, there exist normal human beings... as well as others that possess animal-like characteristics. These mysterious beings (called +Anima) are shunned by "normal" society. Cooro, Husky, Senri and Nana travel not only to find others like themselves, but to also gain acceptance in a world cruel to anyone or anything that is different.

From Natsumi Mukai, +Anima is a new manga that fantasy readers are going to love. Our story focuses around four +Anima in particular: Cooro, who is gifted with traits from the crow, leads the pack; Husky, mysterious and arrogant, possesses fish-like qualities; Nana, the only girl in the group and with traits of a bat; and Senri, a bear +Anima, also the oldest and most mysterious of them all.

This group of +Anima live in a world where "normal" humans reside as outcasts. People fear what they don't understand and see the +Anima as different and therefore, bad. Cooro's black wings for example, are seen by many as bad luck and so he is shunned and avoided. In addition to their obvious uniqueness, each member of the group has their own private demons to deal with - Nana's abusive and alcoholic father for example - and try to find solace with the other +Anima as they make sense of their existence.

+Anima is a fun and dramatic fantasy manga from TOKYOPOP that will have you instantly connected with this foursome of mismatched personalities. Rated "T" for Teen (13+), volume 1 of +Anima hit your manga shelves on May 9, 2006.
