Welcome to the future. Please take a number.
Sometime in the not-so-distant future, multi-national corporations have taken over. The boundaries of countries have weakened, and absolute corporate rule is the law of the land. But though the canopy of greed obscures most light, hope still manages to grow in the hearts of a dedicated group of men and women who will fight for the peoples rights to their dying breath.
This is their story, the story of their mechathe Tactical Costumeand of one very talented and reckless police officer called K
This is Phantom, one of the many new mangas from TOKYOPOP (how do they crank these out so fast? :) and it promises to be a must-read for action and mecha-packed manga fans.
The story follows K, a mech of the Neo Seoul police force. K thinks he's one of the good guys and has made it his life's work to get rid of a persistent terrorist group. But when K inadvertently rescues Sara - a member of his nemesis group - K realizes that they're not terrorists at all. Quite the contrary, they're freedom fighters, trying desperately to rid the world of Iron, a greedy and power-hungry group of corporate execs that have taken over and control everything.
Now K is at odds with Iron and realizes he must join the group he fought so long to eradicate if his world will ever be truly free.
Rated T13+, Phantom requires a bit of parental discretion but if you're old enough, this should definitely become a part of your manga collection. Volume 1 of Phantom is due to hit your favorite manga shelves on January 9, 2007 but in the meantime, you can grab some free avs and wallpapers here and check out the online sneak peek at TOKYOPOP.com.
