Kowloon Shock

By , About.com Guide

Definition: The Kowloon Shock was a war that took place prior to the beginning of the Black Blood Brothers series.

A vampire named Adam Wong appeared in Hong Kong and began spreading his bloodline to the masses. A bite from the Kowloon King would turn any human or vampire into a Kowloon child, thus the term "Kowloon Children". The Kowloon Children are bloodthirsty animals who prey upon both vampires and humans and do not need to share their blood to infect their prey - they only need to make the bite and suck the blood. Kowloon Children also developed a more feral appearance with black eyes, long nails and pointed ears. Up until this time, humans were ignorant to the existence of vampires. But because the Kowloon bloodline caused such a mutation, humans quickly became aware of vampires and a war ensued, dubbed the Kowloon Shock. This led to the Hong Kong Crusade, a final battle where humans and vampires united to eradicate the Kowloon Children. During the crusade, Jiro defeated the Kowloon King - Adam Wong and the Special Zone was built.
