New Anime Convention Fun

Anyone who's ever been to an anime convention knows that cosplay is always at the top of the event list. Over the years, convention sponsors have stepped up that list by adding anime music video competitions, video rooms and gaming to name just a few. But one of the most recent additions is the anime game shows and they're popping up everywhere with the anime dating game topping the list. What is it and how do you sign up? Read on.

Remember the old dating games from television past? Well, add a little anime role-playing to it and you've got the general idea. Just like in the original game, the stage is set with bachelors or bachelorettes on one side while the "contestant" sits on the other, unable to see their potential dates. Through a question and answer series, the contestant chooses which of the three potentials he or she wants to "date". But this dating game isn't just "Bob meets Sue". No, no, no... instead you've got prospects like Sakura, Inuyasha, Yu-Gi-Oh or Yu Yu Hakusho. Sound like fun? To enter, most convention sponsors require you to be at least 18 years of age and of course, a respectable costume. You'll need to have some role-playing skills and should you win, you and your lucky partner are often awarded a lunch or dinner that you're asked to attend "in-character". You can read more on the anime dating game or, to get your costume in order, check out these cosplay resources.
