Looking for a fun-filled weekend with some serious anime action? Look no further, the Anime Expo is back in town.Held in Anaheim, CA, the Anime Expo will grace the Anaheim Convention Center with a vast audience of cosplayers, anime gurus and special guest anime idols. Featured guests this year include greats such as Masao Maruyama (Chobits (TV), Card Captor Sakura and Ninja Scroll), Koichi Chigira (director of Full Metal Panic and Tokyo Babylon) and Toshiharu Murata (character design for Blue Sub #6 and Hellsing).
The main attractions include an Anime Music Video Contest - get out your software and start cutting anime shots to music (just a note: I've done many of these as a hobby - they're a blast to do and you end up with some pretty cool videos!), numerous cosplay events and Yoko Ishida in concert. Tofu Records is hosting a voice acting competition so if you've ever wanted to be a voice actor and you think you've got what it takes, here's your big chance.
There will also be plenty of anime vendors so be sure you walk the exhibit halls for some great anime goodies. I got a sweet Trigun painting at an anime convention a few years ago, so if you're looking for anime decor, conventions are the place to be.
