But along the way, Jiro uncovers a plot by the Kowloon Children to enter the Special Zone and destroy the haven that's been built. Although he tries to avoid conflict, Jiro is confronted by a number of enemies, both past and present and realizes he must face his own past and relive some painful memories if he intends to fulfill his destiny and restore the Sage bloodline.

Black Blood Brothers is based on a light novel series written by Kohei Azano and illustrated by Yuuya Kusaka. The original Japanese anime was produced by Studio Live and Group TAC, directed by Hiroaki Yoshikawa.
The anime is a 12-episode series that ran from September 8, 2006 to November 24, 2006 on Kids Station and Tokyo Mix TV.
It was then picked up by FUNimation and released on DVD:
