The rebirth of the future from the ashes of the past… A young boy named Agito enters a forbidden sanctuary where a glowing machine resides. This machine preserves a young girl named Toola, who has a mission entrusted by her from the past. Three-hundred years into the future, the Earth's environment has been ruined by the interference of mankind, and in between the 300 years, the forest has come to life and is at constant war with man. It is an unsteady peace in an unnatural time. Only by searching their souls and examining the past will Toola and Agito realize the origin of all things and unite mankind with the forest. This is Origin: Spirits of the Past, a new full-length anime film from Studio Gonzo and FUNimation. Origin is the story of Agito, a 15 year old boy who truly is as good as gold. Agito relies on his instincts and acts with his heart, not his mind. When he accidentally awakens Toola, a 300 year old girl from the past, he quickly realizes that he must do what he can to protect her. Toola holds the key to the Istok, a gadget that can reshape the world. To keep her safe, Agito becomes an Enlightened Being and vows to show Toola that life is not as lost as she might think.
