Princess Tutu is the story of Ahiru, which translates into "duck". And for good reason. Ahiru is a duck in reality. She's been transformed into a junior high school girl in order to become Princess Tutu, a magical ballerina that can save the Prince, who goes by the name Mute. Mute was a prince in a story written by Drosselmeyer. When Drosselmeyer died, the prince and the evil crow he was battling escaped. Mute defeated the crow, but destroyed his own heart in the process and now cannot feel or comprehend much at all.
Confused? So was I, but Princess Tutu looks to have exceptional animation and Ahiru, duck or not, is a cute and likable heroine.
For the anime, Ahiru will be voiced by Luci Christian who you may remember as Amazon in Slayers Return and Futaba Aasu in Puni Puni Poemy. Drosselmeyer will be voiced by Marty Fleck, the voice of Gaizno in the movie Slayers Gorgeous.
