Oshii On The Web:

Mamoru Oshii's 411:

Perhaps one of the most acclaimed directors and screenwriters in anime history, Mamoru Oshii is the genius behind anime classics such as Ghost in the Shell, Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade and Avalon.

He began his career with Tatsunoko Productions in 1977 and then quickly moved to Studio Pierrot, where he became the chief director of the 1981 anime TV series, Urusei Yatsura. In 1988, Oshii became one of the minds behind Headgear, a group of talented creators that gave birth to the project Mobile Police Patlabor.

In 1995, Oshii released the first Ghost in the Shell film and quickly developed a strong cult following. Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence came nine years later.

Worth Noting:

Oshii has also directed a number of live-action features, including The Red Spectacles, Stray Dog and Talking Head. The first two titles were further developed to become the animated feature, Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade, produced by Production I.G. in 1999.
