| An Inside Look at Blue Gender | ||||||||||||
Its the year 2031 and we still don't know what they are. Just that they're horrifying. Evil. Unrelenting. We've been fighting them for fourteen years now and they just keep on coming... will it ever end? If you don't already know, I'm talking about the Blue, as in Blue Gender, one of FUNimation's more mature anime hits. Originally released in Japan in 1999, Blue Gender is the story of a young boy who awakes from an medically-induced hibernation to discover that the world he knew has been taken over by large insect-like creatures that eat everything.. including man. Our story begins with Yugi Kaido awakening from a sleep that has lasted two decades. With the Earth he remembers long gone, Yugi is thrown into the battle between man and the Blue. Not wanting to sit and wait for death, Yugi joins up with the Sleeper Recovery Team and learns the tricks of battling the Blue. But will that be enough? Partnered with Marlene and other members of the Recovery Team, Yugi dons a mech-suit and heads out to take on the Blue. But as his own memories begin to haunt him, he realizes that its not just the Blue he must keep at bay. Definitely written for an older audience (recommended for ages 15 and up), Blue Gender is intense in both story and graphics, leaving the viewer with that "edge of your seat" feeling through most of the show. A must-see for those who enjoy action anime, Blue Gender takes sci-fi to a whole new level.
