Demons and wizards. Magic and mayhem. Yep, you guessed it.... I'm talking about Slayers.

The Basics

Introduced into the States in 1995 by Software Sculptors (a division of Central Park Media), Slayers is the story of Lina Inverse and her adventurous travels. Equipped with powerful magic and a heavy dose of moxie, Lina and her many compadres travel the Slayers World fighting demons and protecting the human race. Well... most of the time, anyway.

Characters

Besides Lina, there are several travel-mates that you'll grow to know and love. There's Gourry Gabriev, the righteous, albeit sometimes block-headed sidekick of Lina who also happens to wield the Sword of Light. Zeldagriss Greywers is a chimera -- (that's part-human, part demon and part golem to those not familiar with Slayer terminology) and somewhat of a loner. That said, he is still a great fighter and loyal friend, despite his preoccupation with his disfigured looks.

Filia ul Copt is a dragon, priestess and ambassador to her race. She hates Mazoku (demons) and sports some pretty impressive dragon magic.

Xellos is a Mazoku and quite the untrustwothy one at that. He has great power though and can regenerate quickly in battle. Perhaps this is why Lina keeps him around?

Where to Watch

Catch Slayers on Friday nights at 11pm (EST) on the International Channel. And if that doesn't fit your schedule, don't sweat it. You can catch the re-run on Sunday nights, same Slayer time, same Slayer channel.
