Out and About Anime - April 2003 (Part II)

By Katherine Luther, About.com

Anime Sightings

Those of you in New Jersey will soon have access to the Anime Network, as ADV Films and Comcast expand the offering of the 24/7 anime cable channel. Previously launched in Philadelphia, the Anime Network will be expanding in North America throughout 2003.
Also from ADV Films, Sailor Moon: Season One Uncut is now available on DVD. Also coming out later this month, Vol. 1 and 2 (Season 2) of Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda (4/22/2003) and Saiyuki Vol. 1 (4/29/2003).

Tokyopop plans to score big with their release of Brigadoon, the remake of a 1999 series originally released on Japanese satellite. They've also announced the upcoming release of Vampire Game. No, not another typical vampire anime - this one's a comedy if you can believe it. And while you're browsing their site, be sure to check out the winners of their Rising Stars of Manga contest.

Anime Gigs

Those of you with a flair for art should check out the employment section at Viz.com. They're currently seeking freelance artists for comic book lettering and touch-ups. A.D. Vision, Inc. (ADV Films) is searching for an experienced marketing manager and Anime Pavillion needs both in-store staff and helpers at their conventions.

Up Close and Personal

And, speaking of cons, Los Angeles will enjoy their first annual Anime Film Festival, hosted by The American Cinematheque. Check out details for the nine-day event at the Anime News Network. AnimeCentral will be hosting their 2003 convention at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare on May 16-18 in Rosemont, IL. The 2003 AnimeExpo is also coming soon (July) and will be sponsoring an Anime Music Video contest. You can check out the rules here.
