Kate Luther is a freelance writer who has been an avid fan of anime for over thirty years.
Experience:
Speed Racer was Kate's first introduction to anime back in the 1970s and she's been hooked ever since. Other early favorites include Transformers, Sailor Moon and imported copies of Dragon Ball Z .
In the 1990s, Kate was a co-owner of Toys From the Crypt, a collectible toy and comic shop in Garland, TX that specialized in Japanimation merchandise. Through the store, she exhibited at numerous conventions and toy fairs, including the popular Fantasy Fair. She also previously served as the editor for TerraShare.com's Dragon Ball Z site, providing in-depth coverage of one of the most popular anime series of all time.
She has since covered a variety of anime series, ranging from classics such as Astro Boy and Evangelion to the more recent InuYasha, Bleach and Witch Hunter Robin. She has also interviewed up and coming creators such as Plastic Pixel and Studio Art FX's Terrence Walker, and attended numerous conventions such as Wizard World Dallas and AnimeFEST.
From Katherine Luther:
I am so excited to be your Anime Guide for About.com. From Pokemon to Dragon Ball Z to the Tank Police, my house lives on anime, so I'm thrilled to be able to find and share resources with you. Some things we'll be doing in the future? Along with reviews and highlights of great anime titles, we'll also dig deep to find the best interviews with the creators. Look for the low-down on anime contests around the web, as well as tips and tricks for breaking into the industry. In the meantime, if you have a site that you think is prime anime stuff, send it my way so we can add it to the ever-growing list.
