What better way to celebrate Christmas than with a few gifts? And what would be better as a gift than to have a classic anime -- or three, or twelve -- brought back into print?
That's the focus of the second of our four end-of-the-year retrospectives for Anime.About.com: the best reissues and long-unavailable titles brought back to print during 2012, such as Black Lagoon, shown here (compare prices).
For this list, we looked at titles -- reviewed by us or not -- which were reissues of previously-issued shows or movies, or which were previously-produced shows that are only just now showing up on DVD or BD for the first time (e.g., Lupin III).
Check out our choices for the best re-releases of 2012, and sound off below if we missed anything that was a favorite of yours!

I feel I must again plug Texhnolyze, still my favorite anime ever. But as we’ve discussed, it makes no concessions to accessibility, which was why I was surprised that it got re-released at all. Even so, those willing to pay close attention and tolerate some confusion will find find an incredibly deep show in Texhnolyze. I’ve watched it five times and I’m still noticing new things.
