With the year just about over and the Mayan apocalypse finally behind us (what a fizzle that was, thank goodness), it's time to look back over our shoulder and remember the top anime releases of the year as reviewed here at Anime.About.com. First up: the year's new-title releases on DVD and Blu-ray Disc.
The criteria for this category are simple: they need to be titles released during 2012 in English or the United States which were reviewed here at Anime.about.com; which were never previously issued before on physical media; and which were the cream of the crop for the year.
As with last year, we kept the list to an even dozen. Check out our selections, and if there's a title you liked that we didn't get a chance to check out, sound off about it below!

I really must see the Berserk remake. Love the original manga. Although if they’re going to adapt the whole thing, Miura will need to pick up the pace and actually finish the damned thing. Although for me it’s been all downhill after volume 23 anyway.
