Anime Review: 'Level E'

Follow me on:

Level E: The Complete SeriesDo aliens live among us, disguised as ordinary human beings? That's been the premise of many a science fiction story, from The Brother from Another Planet to Starman. It's also been the premise of more than a few anime, and the most recent in that category to arrive on this planet is Level E (compare prices).

In Level E, adapted from Yu Yu Hakusho and Hunter × Hunter creator Yoshihiro Togashi's manga, the alien in question is Prince Baka (meaning "idiot" in Japanese!), who crash-lands on Earth and decides to make it into his new playground. He'd rather mess with the heads of the locals -- and some of the other aliens who happen to be planetside! -- than attend to things like princely duties. Before long, everyone's up in arms about him.

Originally streamed on Crunchyroll in 2011, Level E was since picked up by FUNimation for a domestic DVD/Blu-ray Disc release. Check out our full review, and chime in below with your take on this hybrid of farcical comedy and science fiction.
