Anime News Network reports that YouTube just added a new channel devoted entirely to anime, entitled Anime Bancho -- where it'll sit side by side with other anime channels curated by the likes of FUNimation and Manga Entertainment / Anchor Bay.
Content for Anime Bancho is initially being provided by the outfit CoMix Wave, the studio that created the Miyazaki-esque 5 Centimeters Per Second and Children Who Chase Lost Voices.
Content will be added to the channel twice a week, Monday and Friday, with both Japanese-native and English-subtitled versions of videos to be uploaded. Other languages may also follow suit.
Other portals have already done something similar. Consider the anime and live-action programming portal Viki, which streams worldwide and "crowdsources" translations of its shows for for many different languages.
Aside from actual anime content, Anime Bancho will also broadcast interviews and possibly viewer-feedback-driven material as well.
The channel formally launches on December 19th, but you can start watching it here.
