With candy by the door, jack o'lanterns on the front stoop, and a costume ready to go, all that's missing is something to watch once the sun goes down. Here at Anime.about.com, we've dug deep and come up with a list of thirteen of our favorite horror anime titles from across the board.
Some of the titles in the list are established classics, like Vampire Hunter D; some are relative newcomers, like Shiki; and some are out-of-print titles recently given back a new lease on life, like Boogiepop Phantom. Moods vary, too: some aim for a flat-out old-school scare (Hell Girl), while some just prefer to be incrementally creepy or paranoid (Perfect Blue).
