Fullmetal Alchemist 2 Hits Japan in April
Monday January 5, 2009

Okay, its official:
The sequel to the Fullmetal Alchemist anime series will air in Japan in April, 2009. Produced by Studio Bones, FMA 2 was originally "teased" back in July and then semi-confirmed on the wraparound jacket of the 20th volume of the FMA manga in August. Now it looks like those rumors were true. The trailer for the new series appeared at the end of a Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Second Season episode that aired in Japan in December and the official Japanese FMA website has confirmed as well and also promised some additional information to be included in the January issue of Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine.
When will FMA 2 hit the States? No word yet but you know its coming.

Back at AnimeCon is Sept08 in NYC, while working the Funimation booth, a rep from Aniplex had come over and told us that they were working on FMA2…all we had was her word, but now the website is up. I can only hope that FUNimation gets a chance to continue the series. It will be good to catch up with Ed, Al, Winry and the rest of the FMA crew.
Word is it’s a remake, not a sequel. More manga-based this time.
Yes , it’s gonna be a remake!
AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH~! ok…now thati’ve got that out…please let it not be a remake! lets see some new stuff!
yeah right all the promotional stuff shows al back in armor soooooooooo
that means either sum baaaaadddd stuff happened orrrrrr
its a remake
Yeah it’s a remake. I liked the original anime series better ;-;
lolz…maybe from what happen on the movie i think they be back on the real present time then what happen to them is they back to thier self again as Edward=full metal and AL = in Armor again….im very good at english im from japan sorry….
Oops!…what I mean is Im not very good at english language sorry….^_^
I personally enjoy the manga’s story line more than the original anime. I’m looking forward to this
a sequel to fma would be great. a remake not so much. seeing the armor in the background could indicate it’s a remake, but it could also be a step back from the movie and then forward from that point.
maybe ed got an armor to be an al replacement while in the alternate world or who knows… i’m dling the trailer now, but whatever happens, i’m still looking forward to it.
I wish it was a sequal. I’d much rather find out what would have happened if Ed and Al were here during the holocaust. And see them make it back to their world with all of Ed’s body. A remake would never compare to the first. It’s that way for everything I watch. If they make it one way it should stay that way. But you never know some day I hope they go back to the original anime and make a sequal. There’s always hope!
A REMAKE!?!?
Hell yeah lol!!
i cant wait!! i miss the series so much!!
FMA FOrEVEr!!!
well………….i do hope it’s a sequel, but if not i’ll still watch it any way!:(
I’m glad its a “remake” not a sequel. The Manga split of from the anime’s plot after the greed arc, so after that point it will all be new content; If you haven’t read the manga. It also looks like the art style is a bit more true to the manga as well.
Very much looking forward to this.
A remake based on the original manga. If you haven’t been reading the manga, then you’ll soon understand why a remake based on the original manga is better than a continuation of the original anime series.
Itz a remakE guyzzzz..coz thier Was this one Clip EsWard being old n thier were kids running n Stuff n its base lyk 40years..n Ed was an ld guy..So i think Its a REmaKe…As you can See from the Traler mustang unLeashEd a BIg FLame not weaRing an EyePatch and Huge IS aLIve..So It’s TOTALYYYYY A REMAKEEEEE..hehehe..LAtEr
To all who say it won’t be as good as the first series: read the manga. It’s actually very different from the anime, much more detailed, and much better. I think that these 2 anime should be viewed as exactly that: 2 anime that share the same basic roots but are otherwise different. I’m so glad it’s a remake because now we’ll hopefully get to see Ed and Winry fall in love (which is basically what happens in the manga), and the storyline will be all new after the Greed arc. I wouldn’t even be suprised if we saw some new content before the Greed arc. Either way, I’m sure both animes will be great. Can’t wait for April 5th! ^^
I LOVE FMA! IT IS THE BEST ANIME/MANGA EVER! IT ALWAYS WILL BE! I wish it was a sequel, but I am just so happy they are making another series at all! I’m so happy I could cry! I hope this series has a happier ending.
Ed and Winry make a cute couple. The manga is slightly better. I can’t wait for the U.S. release!
if anyone watched the first FMA movie they would know that the first series did have a conclusion with the Mustang and Ed and Al destroying the gate connection between the two worlds. (Sorry if thats a spoiler, but you should watch the movie as well, it does “end” the original series)
Based off of the movie, Ed and Al continue life in the “world without alchemy” hence why a sequel based on the original series wouldn’t really make sense.
Glad to see it is a remake based on the manga, hopefully StudioBones gives us 50+ episodes to enjoy!
i hope not re make
if it a sequal it would be awsome. i see that there are alot of therorys being throughn around but i hop its a sequal not re make
Well, I would love to see Winry and Ed have a real chance, and if that means a remake, then remake away!!! The movie (FYI…. SPOILER AHEAD)……….
……….
……….
……….
… as I was saying,
the movie was great except that it was not long enough to have some “real” conclusions. Yes, Ed and Al reunite—awesome.
Yes, it was at a cost—awesome.
Mustang back in command—great, but we really need an epilogue to see him and his crew back together or at least see where they go.
Winry saying, “…[to herself about Ed]…I guess you will make us wait longer..” is just heart-breaking. She was so ready and waiting for Ed that it did not make sense for Ed to take note. Even Al asked Ed, “What about Winry?” and I thought Ed’s reply was weak.
Anyway, everyone has said the manga story line is better, so I am hopeful! Cheers!
guys if you go to the website you’d know its obviously a remake; they show father and the manga sloth, i can’t wait. it’s gonna be so epic
When you think about how the movie ended, it would take a great deal of effort to build on that. I think you don’t mess with greatness…yes, they could go into the Holocaust & they could find a way to make alchemy work here on this planet, using advance physics-but then that would spoil imagination as to where things went from there. By the way, if anyone thinks Ed’s response in the movie was weak when Al asked “what about Winry”…if you remember, he stopped suddenly & his eyes got real wide- then he kinda hunched over. Plus, if you remember, Ed was also leaving Al in Ametris as well, (to destroy the gate). This series & movie was about sacrifice & Ed knew the fate of both worlds was more important than his love for Winry, or being together with Al. It’s all about the greater good & taking the hardest path-even when it hurts like hell, and I thuoght it was wonderfully done…sometimes any words at all would fall short & I think they did a great job of portraying that…since I haven’t read the manga yet, I look foward to it!!!
With the way the movie ended, it would be difficult to build on that! I say you don’t mess with greatness! Yes, they could be there during the Holocaust & yes, the could find some way to make alchemy work here by utilizing advanced physics, but then that would rob people of imagination as to where they went from there. Also, for anyone who thinks that Ed’s response in the move when Al asked him “what about Winry”, was weak…well if you remember he stopped suddenly, his eyes got real big & then he kinda hunched over…also he was planning on leaving Al there in Ametris to destroy the gate. Sometimes words aren’t a sufficient means of expressing one’s emotions-I mean, what could he of said? Broke down & sobbed? This anime was about sacrificing for the greater good, and Ed understood that the fate of both worlds was in the cross-hairs, and his happiness wasn’t worth their destruction. Not being with Al, or his love for Winry & was strong enough to carry that burden without complaining so I think they did a wonderful job of portraying that. And since I never read the manga, I look foward to it!

I really do not remeber all that much about the movie, but what I do remeber is that to make the Arc work in the film they had to find a magical dragon on Earth. I thought it was cool how they combined our universe with the imaginary one the main character came from while also formulating an creative way to express our world, hence adding the dragon. My point being is that the artist could show what magic truly lies in our world thorugh the eyes of these two young boys!
It is definitely not a sequel, it’s a remake, it’s supposed to to be based and follow the manga this time.
good thing their making a remake. Since i hate how they ended anime, but it was still good.
1 day is left……
i’m downloading it now :p
Found English Subbed download it now will comment later to let ya know if it works here is the link.

its a remake but this time they will follow the manga and not make up some different ending
The new FMA series will be a remake but instead it will follow the manga. In the old series, they missed a lot of story. Things that happened in between. I can’t wait to watch it!
ok i think it will be a sequel iknow that ed and al are stuck in “our world” but i think it was lust or sombody that said that the gate is inside all of us they did not destroy the gate they destroyed the way to the gate and that was drawn by humans so if they can open their minds they can get home and bam
the new fma 2 rocks, and if you want to download or see it , check out FMA2 Download
I love it but the drawing is bit chibby type. IDK why. But i will definitely watch it whole.
Watch Fullmetal Alchemis 2
