FUNimation Acquires Evangelion: 1.0

In a recent press release, FUNimation announced that it had acquired rights to Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone from NTV. The first of four movies based on the Neon Genesis Evangelion television series, Evangelion 1.0 received Animation of the Year and Best Director awards at the Tokyo International Fair in 2007.

Rights acquired include home entertainment (DVD, VHS), broadcast, digital and merchandising so it sounds like FUNimation has some big plans for Evangelion 1.0. FUNimation expects to release the film later this year.
