Priest Coming To the Big Screen
Monday December 29, 2008
I know I've said it before, but here's a good reason to say it again: it seems that Hollywood has decided that the anime/manga/comic book industry is definitely the place to be.
If the recent slew of Marvel movies such as Hulk and Iron Man weren't enough to convince you, then perhaps the upcoming Dragon Ball Z release and the announcement of a Cowboy Bebop feature film would persuade you to see my point. No? Then how about this: TOKYOPOP has announced that Scott Charles Stewart has signed to direct a movie adaptation of Priest, the Western-horror manga written by Min-Woo Hyung.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the movie will be produced by Michael De Luca and Josh Donen of Start Road Entertainment. Cory Goodman is handling the screenplay.
Also worth noting, this apparently wasn't the first time that TOKYOPOP tried to take Priest to the big screen. It seems there was a deal in the works a few years ago with Andrew Douglas as director and set to shoot in 2006, but it didn't work out.
No word yet on when production will begin.
