Anime Flashback: Cowboy Bebop

Monday August 18, 2008
Let's go back to 1998. Aerosmith sang I Don't Want to Miss a Thing while Celine Dion's Heart Will Go On brought tears to our eyes. We listened to Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls while Will Smith was Gettin Jiggy With It. The Denver Broncos won the Super Bowl and the New York Yankees took the World Series. Armageddon, Bug's Life and There's Something About Mary dominated the theaters. And could we ever forget... Cowboy Bebop made its premiere.

Cowboy Bebop is among the top 3 anime series of all time, at least, if not the best. It’s my favorite for many reasons, including the fact that it defied anime series conventions and walked its own path. Too many series these days are afraid to try anything new.

This is how… get money… (How?) Get producers/studios interested in a money making guaranteed plot. Show them how the series will make money. Have research. Make them an offer they can’t refuse. Thats how you mkae an anime… yeah, you thought it would have something to do with drawing…
