Live Action Dragonball Movie On The Way

According to a post at The Hollywood Reporter, the cast of the upcoming Dragonball movie has grown again.Emmy Rossum (Phantom of the Opera, Mystic River) will play Bulma while Eriko Tamura (Heroes) will play antagonist "Mai". Joon Park has been cast for the role of Yamcha.
The three join Justin Chatwin (Goku), James Marsters (Piccolo) and Jamie Chung (Chi-Chi) in creating the long-awaited film. The movie is slated for release in August of 2008 and is being directed by James Wong (Final Destination 3, The Others). 20th Century Fox is heading the production.
For those of you looking for Trunks, Gohan and some of the other favorite DBZ characters, you won't find it here. IMDB reports that the movie is based on the King Piccolo Saga of the original Dragonball, way before DBZ came to be.

Please no one wants to watch this. Movie makers still dont get it. People want to see Goku, Vegta, Broly, etc so who cares about this movie? As a anime fan i dont and I will not pay money to see it.
I disagree, I’d much rather watch the original Dragon Ball story retold. Seeing as how it was, you know, an actual story, as opposed to unceasing screaming and powering up.
I just hope people over here will boycott this movie just like the Japanese are going to do

This film has so much potential, but if it was upto me id have started with the sayian saga, an easy adaptation for even hollywood to deal with, a guy lives with his family you know first 5mins goku chi-chi n gohan,goku training in the forest outside his dome house chi-chi cookin or maybe doin an exercise vid or summat? (not sexist, its just how i see it/ remember it) gohan studying (not 4gettin his dragonball on his hat sum how, id leave that to costume design) then they all get ready to go visit master roshi on his little island and from there gohan gets kiddnaped and the story follows on, explainin as you go along about goku`s past etc. throught raditz (the only thing id have problems with is explaining piccolo but if he was just put across as intrested in protecting his area of mountin where he lives etc.) this film is only gonna make money from the db fans so they already know the story so i wuddnt change it to summat thats its not (the whole addin new charactors? why?) and i hear they havnt included krillin even in dragonball he was i massive part! The positives are look at transformer im a fan not 100% to the book but it was pulled off and without soundwave (shud b in no2) but on the negative spiderman3 was such a let down but this isnt an american based cartoon/comic so?

Wow everyone relax! Who cares if this movie is made maybe just maybe it’ll surprise everyone and be decent and maybe it won’t like so many other other movies that get released almost every week. I can’t believe someone’s life could be pathetic enough to actually have the spare time to organise petitions to boycott the production of some live action anime attempt. I mean really.. get laid buds cuz there truly are more important issues out there to whine about
your all a bunch of idiots i cant wait for this movie to come out it WILL be awesome that i guarentee you the special efects in my opinion are going to be out of this world just look at how awesome carto movies have been over the last few years like transformers for instance i honestly believe DragonBall will break out to be the next generation in action movie special effects those of you who plan to miss out on it will truly be sorry they did

Some idiots haven’t even watched Dragonball properly but are insisting that this flick’s terrific. Guess they just don’t respect the Japanese, and as someone said those who aren’t boycotting this aren’t true fans at all.
i have to agree with pielo…..the americans have taken over anime and’s destroying it slowly….if i would, id have an all asian cast, and let akira toriyama do the rest…james wong has many titles in his hand , but dbz is another affair, and its very delicate..almost racist, meddling with it…..
its a japanese cartoon and the lead roll is some white surfer guy, he does not even look like goku none of them really look like the who there playin
i think its a good idea if its done right im a big fan of dbz and i would lik to see how can it be put in a real live movie
everyone needs to relax, the movies gonna be good, didn’t everyone watch the matrix revelations at the end when neo fight smith now imagine that but with goku and piccolo, except they’ll be firing energy blast at each other while they’re beating each other down. you all need to worry bout other things other than this maybe getting laid or something.

I think it was “SCARFACE” who rambled on about his views. That’s ridiculous if you were actually a TRUE DBZ fan you wouldnt care where this live action movie takes place in the series because no matter what anyone says, it is the single most terrible idea I have ever heard. I have watched evry single Dragonball, Dragonball Z, and Dragongball Z GT episode. I LOOOVE Dragonball Z and I strongly believe that this movie will be TERRIBLE. Thats all im gonna say.
